Do you live in a (rented) house where it is not allowed to drill holes in the walls? Then you may wonder how you can hang paintings and photos in a nice and easy way. Photo frames come in many different shapes and sizes and this can make it even more difficult to hang them neatly and tightly without damaging your walls.
Fortunately, there are enough solutions for hanging lists and photos without having to use nails. In this Ideabook you are at the right address because we have put a number of alternatives in front of you that you almost do not have to make holes for. Think, for example, of rails with nylon thread or double-sided tape. There are various options depending on your surface.
Take a look and let yourself be inspired by the ideas below!
Double-sided tape
You can choose to use double-sided tape or adhesive strips for hanging your frames and / or your photos. This is especially recommended for light, smaller photo frames or individual photos without a frame. It is an ideal way to hang up your lists or photos in a fast way. Measure well in advance at what height, and at what distance from each other, you want to hang the photos. Stick the strips or the tape on the back of your frames and you’re done!
The disadvantage of double-sided tape is that it can leave unpleasant traces on certain surfaces. For example, wallpaper can come off the wall when it is removed, but too heavy a weight can cause the frames to fall off the wall.
Do you have to deal with a fragile wall, for example? Then choose a different solution and read on.
A notice board
A notice board old fashioned? Absolutely not! They are completely of this time again. We often see them in the minimalist and Scandinavian interior styles. Choose the well-known variant of cork or just go for a new version in the form of an inspirational rack or magnetic board. To hang up most boards, it is, of course, necessary to drill holes in the wall. Very light signs you could hang with double-sided tape or solid adhesive strips. Despite these few holes, a notice board offers the possibility to hang many different photos and images that are also easy to replace.
As we briefly mentioned, there are now also new variants of the traditional bulletin board available. For example, the inspiration rack consists of a square or rectangular rack with a checkered grid pattern. You can hang up your images and photos with clips, pegs or paper clips. Do you prefer to choose a magnetic board? Then there is a nice variation on the board, namely: magnetic paint! By painting a surface with magnetic paint on your wall, it is not necessary to drill holes. Would you choose this?
A rails and nylon thread
Another way to hang photos in a smart way is to use a rail and nylon thread. How does this work? You attach the rails to the ceiling, if necessary use plugs when hanging them because in the end you can get a fair amount of weight. The nylon thread makes it possible to attach your photo frames to the rail at different heights. Moreover, the wire almost falls against the wall, so the lines almost do not stand out. You can of course also choose to hang all the lists at the same height.
The big advantage of hanging a rail is that you can easily swap and change photos and frames without damaging your wall.
Parentheses
Small brackets can easily be attached to the wall with double-sided tape, here you can hang up lightweight photo frames. Another option is to choose a special hanging element for photos. You have them enormously, but also see how this octopus is. You can attach these elements to the ceiling from somewhere else. The different ‘paws’ have all the small clips of pegs at the end where you can cut your photos very far between.
Paper clips
We previously used paperclips to bundle paper, but nowadays it appears that you can use them for many more things. A huge number of DIY projects can be found online where paper clips contribute to a decorative purpose. This way you could also use them to hang photos. Do you choose to hang photos without a frame or without a background? Then we advise you to print them on a thicker quality of paper or cardboard, so they will not curl or warp less quickly. You can hang multiple photos with paper clips on a stretched cord, but you could also choose to attach them to an inspirational rack in this way. The choice is yours!
Decorative satin ribbon
Finally, you can also go many ways with a simple satin ribbon. They are available in many different colors and thicknesses so there are plenty of options. Choose, for example, to hang a ribbon from the ceiling to the floor, or just stretch it along a wall, and attach your photos with a small drop of glue. Or choose for several strings where you attach photos to different heights and lengths for a playful effect.
