The kitchen is one of the places where you spend most of the time. A kitchen with a beautiful color can therefore be inspiring. Tip 1: Choose the right paint type and paint color
Your kitchen is often one of the most crowded places in the house. So choose paint that can take a beating and is also washable. Paint is durable and ideal for the kitchen. You can also opt for alkyd paint. You still have to dilute this paint with turpentine. Finally there is also acrylic paint. This is slightly less convenient to work with, as it dries quickly.
Which color you choose best depends on your personal taste and the size of the available space. If you have a small kitchen, then you should choose light colors. Light colors can optically enlarge a room. Dark colors in small kitchens will make your room look even smaller.
Dark shades can be an option if you have a large kitchen. Black can even give your kitchen a dramatic and glamorous look.
Do you doubt whether a particular color is suitable for your kitchen? Then buy a test pot. To judge correctly about color, let the paint dry completely completely.
TIP 2: paint your kitchen in the right way
Stick with masking tape all parts that do not need to be painted. Make sure the substrate is dust and grease free. Otherwise, the tape will not stick. Also remove plastic wrap to protect against splashes and stains. Disassemble the kitchen cabinets as much as possible. Sand the cupboards with sandpaper with a fine grit. The paint will adhere much better without deep grooves. Any holes can be filled with wood paste. Make the surfaces to be painted dust and grease free in preparation for your soil layer.
Apply paint layers
First apply a good primer. After drying, apply 2 finishing layers. Finally, you should apply a varnish layer. With washable paint you can skip that last step.
TIP 3: Accessories make the difference
Accessories play an important role in the appearance of your kitchen. Adding a matching worktop, handles, and splashback can make a huge difference.
Do not be afraid to play with different and striking colors.
Kitchens in dark tones add drama and glamor. High-gloss colors come out nicely with structure-rich kitchens (old-fashioned oak kitchens). Kitchen cabinets with flat doors look better in combination with matt paint.
The goal of this kitchen renovation was to create more sense of space. This was realized by painting the dark kitchen cabinets white. The hanging cabinets were replaced by shelves and the fixed island was replaced by a freestanding table. Atmospheric decoration and a new floor covering complete the picture.
